In northwest Vermont, right on Lake Champlain sits the state's most populous city, Burlington. Birthplace of Ben & Jerry's, the city also includes both the University of Vermont and Champlain College, giving it a college town feel.

If you happen to be in the Burlington, Vermont area and looking for a nice day trip or a weekend away, head just 15 miles southeast of the lake to Cochran’s Ski Area! They don’t have many summer activities, events, or classes, but the area is ideal for all sorts of winter fun. However, if you are in the area during the summer, there are 22 trails available for hiking and biking for all levels of adventurers.

Carolyn Lawrence, Outdoor Gear Exchange's Events, Social Media and Outreach Coordinator, introduced us to Cochran's Ski Area by saying, “They have the most fun, versatile, challenging, and unique mountain biking that's close to Burlington. It's also friendly for trail runners in the summer, as well as downhill and Nordic skiers in the winter.”

Burlington and the surrounding areas have tons of awesome spots to explore and enjoy! Looking for a great brunch spot? You can stop by The Farmhouse on any weekend for a plethora of delicious farm to table options. Don’t worry they have lunch and dinner available during the week also.

And you have to make sure to pop by Outdoor Gear Exchange to pick up some Grand Trunk gear like our double hammock! “Big enough for friends, partners, pets, and more (including beer).” You can also grab a rental bike if you forgot yours!
