I purchase to use on a bike touring trip where we camped along the way. It's pretty light and compact when packed away (sort of like a large-ish collapsing umbrella) and while it did feel a bit extravagant to spend precious ounces and space to carry it, I found that it was worth it for me as we spent lots of time sitting around the campfire at night. The two points of contact worked out great on the uneven ground and I loved being able to rock in it. It felt quite stable and comfortable even after a few drinks :-)
It was a little hard to sit in it to perform any task... for example, I didn't really find a great way to sit in it while preparing food. Though that wasn't much of a big deal... I'd just get the food cooking and then sit next to it in the chair to stir it.
