Brock's Bus Life and the Compression Pack Cube

Written by Brock Butterfield.

With only 76 square feet to call home managing your storage is the top priority. Bruce (my bus) has many storage compartments and utilizes every last bit of space possible in order to carry all the needed adventure gear and day to day life necessities.

However, when you live in a tiny home you realize that you need storage within storage to keep things organized. One of my favorite Grand Trunk products for space consumption is from the ATOM Collection. The Compression Pack Cubes. Currently, I’m using only one (The Getaway) but can see myself adding more of these in the future as they make organization in a tiny space a breeze. Plus, I foresee myself having one packed and ready to go specifically for weekend camping trips with the boys when I’m not driving the bus and enjoying the view from a passenger seat.

I can typically fit the following in the Getaway:

  • 4 t-shirts
  • 2 pairs of shorts
  • 7 pairs of underwear
  • 2 pairs of socks (in summer I usually don’t wear socks)
  • 1 pair of jeans

The beauty of the Compression Pack Cubes is that I can condense all of those items into the height of my water bottle. This frees up more space in the storage compartments and having more space in the small bus is better than no space.

One other feature of the Compression Pack Cubes that really makes a world of difference for me is the separate compartment that I can keep all my dirty undies in. The whites. Or as Walter says in The Big Lebowski, “The ringer”. Although, I won’t be tossing this luggage out the window anytime soon regardless if Bunny was kidnapped...
